i used to remember a time where people were all talking about dreams and aspirations.
i remember the shouts of :
"doctor"
"lawyer"
"pilot"
"international soccer star"
yeah but no one ever asked mine.
so deep down in my diary i wrote there that someday i would do something that would make my parents proud.
something that would yet be interesting to me.
and yet made my parents happy.
nah, i didn't want to be a boring lawyer.
or a doctor sitting in an office all day long.
or some person staring into blue space up in the sky at 20,000 feet.
so after 20 years of tackling this question.
i asked myself:
"so what can i do that would make my parents proud and keep myself happy?"
and i can safely say that:
"anything that you can do to the best of your ability, and without hurting anyone else, physically or emotionally, will make me proud of you." - circa 2007, courtesy of my mom.
i remember after that day in school when my teacher asked all of us what we wanna be when grow up,
i made a decision in my head that i would use the gifts that God has given me to the fullest extent.
and i'd reckon that i've not let myself or anyone down so far.
i've played drums for 10 years now.
DJed in parties.
play bass for my band.
but what matters most is not the accolades or the accomplishments that i have achieved.
its knowing that you have fulfilled the promise which you made when you were young.
and that you are still in the process of fulfilling it even till the very day that you cross over from this life here on earth to the life that you are destined for in heaven.
yes. until the very day i die.
i won't stop doing the things i love.
